Established 1975

Ramat Library was established in 1975 as the central library of the University of Maiduguri. Named after the famous Nigerian poet and scholar Ahmeds Ibrahim Ramat, the library has grown from a small collection to become one of the largest academic libraries in Northern Nigeria.

Over the years, the library has expanded its collections to include books, journals, electronic resources, and multimedia materials. Today, we serve over 25,000 students and 1,500 academic staff with a collection of over 500,000 volumes.

The library continues to evolve with technology, offering digital services, online databases, and e-learning resources to support modern academic needs.
